Swede Fest 25, Fresno’s unique film festival for homemade recreations of popular movies, returns. Filmmakers of all ages and experience levels are invited to submit their own “sweded” films—low-budget, DIY parodies—by Monday, April 21, 2025. No Hollywood budget required—just creativity and fun!
“Xanadu” is a dazzling roller-skating journey packed with comedy, romance, and the magic of the 1980s. Based on the cult classic film that starred Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly, this musical adaptation lights up the stage with its story of Kira, a beautiful Greek muse who descends from Mount Olympus to Venice Beach with a mission to inspire struggling artist Sonny to create the ultimate artistic achievement—none other than the first roller disco. However, Kira’s plans take a comedic turn when she falls in love with the mortal Sonny, leading to turmoil courtesy of her envious sisters.
Bearing witness to the accelerating negativity of global affairs, British reggae powerhouse Steel Pulse exemplify musical vengeance to halt the disarray of humanity. The band's twelfth studio production, titled Mass Manipulation, reflects four decades committed to bettering mankind through music.
Mario Hodge was inspired to be a comedian as a child by watching sitcoms like Sanford & Son, The Richard Pryor Show, The Carol Burnett Show, and the Three Stooges, but it wasn't until he watched In Living Color that he knew he wanted to be on TV and perform on stages in front of live audiences to make people laugh. Mario Hodge stepped on the stage in 2012 and has never looked back.
