This workshop will help family caregivers understand how advance care planning improves communication, reduces stress during medical decisions and supports patient-centered care. Participants will learn the importance of documenting care preferences, identifying healthcare decision-makers, and how planning ahead can lead to more respectful, coordinated and compassionate care experiences for patients and their families.

Rachel Reed, owner of Assured Senior Living Solutions, will talk about challenges and best practices when communicating with your loved one with dementia.

Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno will hold its third annual Charity Poker Tournament, Taco Bar Dinner and raffle at Club One Casino on July 24, with proceeds to benefit the organization.

Dave Bressoud is a force of nature on stage, blending high-octane energy with a seen-it-all perspective shaped by a life that’s been anything but ordinary. A veteran of comedy clubs and casinos throughout California, Nevada, and Washington, Dave has appeared on Hulu’s West Coast Comedy and had a breakout “magical moment” on Kill Tony, where Tony Hinchcliffe personally invited him to perform at The Comedy Store.

Pianist Dr. Michael Delfín will perform a recital at the University Presbyterian Church on July 25. The program includes music by Debussy, Schubert, and original pieces, as well as Mussorgsky's monumental Pictures at an Exhibition in its original piano version. Accompanying the music will be a slideshow of artwork by Claude Monet, David Friedrich, Victor Hartmann, and images from NASA's James Webb telescope. Dr. Delfin is a Valley native and currently teaches historical keyboards at the University of Alabama. He is a graduate of several prominent conservatories across the country and performed several times on KVPR's Young Artists Spotlight in his earlier years.

Learn how untreated hearing loss is a major, modifiable risk factor for dementia. Also covered in this workshop is early treatment for hearing loss and the connection between hearing loss and how it affects the brain.

Guest speaker, Vince Mastro, CLU, AIF, Associate and LPL Wealth Advisor from Thiesen Dueker Modern Wealth Management, will be talking about developing a plan before care is needed, what is long term care, the cost of care, the average length of care, changes of needed care, how to pay for care, and options to consider.

The annual Rummage Sale will be selling lots of items, from clothes to furniture. Proceeds from the event will go toward the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Service Center (DHHSC).

Celebrate the creativity of summer art classes with the Young at Art: Summer Youth Art Exhibition, August 6 – 22, 2026. Community members are invited to join family and friends of the young artists who participated in summer art classes for a fun-filled opening reception on August 7 featuring free root beer floats by A&W Restaurants and free sketchbooks for kids while supplies last. This event is part of the Tulare County Health and Human Services’ Summer Night Lights programming that is designed to give the youth of the community fun and engaging events this summer.

Project Survival’s Cat Haven invites you to spend the evening at Cat Haven to see the cats at sunset – when they are most active – and enjoy the offerings of several local wineries and craft breweries. Enjoy food provided by Bobby Salazar’s Mexican food and live music from local musicians.
