On every second Sunday, this monthly gathering celebrates fresh local food, handcrafted goods, live music, and wellness, all with the welcoming spirit of the southern Sierra foothills.

This workshop will teach family caregivers the essential skills needed to safely care for individuals who are confined to a bed. Participants will learn proper techniques for repositioning, hygiene assistance, skin care to prevent pressure injuries, and safe methods for transferring patients between bed, chair or other surfaces. The course emphasizes caregiver safety, body mechanics and practical strategies to reduce strain while providing comfortable and dignified care.

Guests from the Fresno Economic Opportunities Commission will speak to seniors ages 60 and older on how to use their smartphones, computers and tablets. These one-hour workshops will also provide an opportunity to learn how to identify spam calls, send text messages and make important calls using the cell phone.

Steven Sanchez’s debut book, Phantom Tongue (Sundress Publications), was chosen by Mark Doty for the Rochelle Ratner Memorial Award. He is a CantoMundo Fellow, a Lambda Literary Fellow, and the inaugural winner of the Federico Garcia Lorca Poetry Prize for an emerging Latinx poet and was also awarded residencies from Tin House and the Civitella Ranieri Foundation. The evening will also feature live music with Tip Jar, so bring your dinner, lawn chair or blanket.

These workshops are designed to help participants learn that falls and the fear of falling can be controllable. Participants will learn to set realistic goals for increasing activity, change their environment to reduce fall risk and promote exercise to increase strength and balance.

Medicare information can be confusing and overwhelming. Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) has designed this workshop to educate current and “soon-to-be” Medicare beneficiaries about coverage options, different enrollment periods, and how to avoid penalties. Also discussed are the differences between Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage plans, Part D, and Medigaps. Registered HICAP counselors will be available to answer all your questions.
