Fresno Philharmonic Kicks Off The 2014-15 Concert Season

The Fresno Philharmonic begins its 61st season this weekend. This year the orchestra will feature a diverse  mix of concerts, with programs dedicated to Armenian contributions to classical music, and a complete cycle of Beethoven’s five piano concertos.

It was also supposed to include a performance this weekend by one of the world’s most acclaimed digeridoo artists William Barton, but there has been a last minute change.  The Philharmonic’s executive director Stephen Wilson joins KVPR's Ezra David Romero for an interview on the concert series. 1)      Pictures At An Exhibition – Sept 28 at 3:00 PM

2)      Brahms 4th Symphony – Nov 7,8,9 – late 19th century classics

3)      Bolero – January 25th  - music inspired by Spain and Latin America

4)      From the New World – Feb 13,14,15 – three masterpieces by European composers which all premiered in America

5)      The Complete Piano Concertos of Beethoven – March 13th, 14th 15thall five performed over three days by pianist Antonio Pompa-Baldi

6)      Witness & Rebirth: An Armenian Journey – April 25th   featuring music by Armenian composers and guest artists
