This six-week series is designed for caregivers to learn clear and practical tools to prevent caregiver burnout. The workshops teach self-care skills, enabling caregivers to reduce personal stress, change negative thinking, better communicate with healthcare providers, and make difficult caregiving decisions.
“We Mean to Make Things Over” is an award-winning half-hour documentary that explores how May Day became a global workers’ holiday everywhere except the US, despite its origins in American labor struggles. Using historical images, contemporary illustrations, and animation, the film takes viewers on an educational and entertaining journey through this long-suppressed chapter of working-class history. Featuring a moderated discussion with filmmaker Fred Glass.

The Pre-Game Comedy Show is hosted by Anthony Jauregui. Through several hosts over the years, the Thursday night open mic is the longest running night of comedy in Bakersfield. Free admission.
For the past 17 years, James Garner and his band have faithfully recreated Johnny Cash’s biggest hits with stunning accuracy in this not-to-be-missed musical event. This world-class tribute to the ‘Man in Black’ has been featured live in concert on PBS stations, and performed at Folsom and San Quentin Prisons where Johnny Cash recorded his biggest albums. The show is a fun, toe-tapping trip down memory lane honoring Cash’s life and music.

This workshop is designed to help participants learn to view falls and the fear of falling as controllable, set realistic goals for increasing activity, change their environment to reduce fall risk, and promote exercise to increase strength and balance.
Visit Arts Visalia to see the paintings of Adam Longatti and Austin Mckinzie. Both Longatti and Mckinzie have dedicated their artistic careers to interpreting the Central Valley landscape. The exhibit runs May 1 – 31, 2025. A free Opening Reception will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, 5 – 7:30PM. A free Artist Talk featuring the artists takes place Saturday, May 10, 2025, 2PM.
