On Valley Edition: High Speed Rail; Valley Fever Symposium; Food Documentary; Fresno Philharmonic

Fresno Metro Ministries

This week on Valley Edition we take a look at a few issues impacting the region. Valley Public Radio Reporter Ezra David Romero reports on how the implementation of High Speed Rail will force businesses and residents along its path to relocate. Fresno Bee Reporter Tim Sheehan joins Valley Edition Host Joe Moore for an update on the statewide project.

Also on the program FM89 reporter Rebecca Plevin reports on a one-of-a-kind symposium in Bakersfield on Valley Fever. Health officials announced a new clinical trial that could finally provide some answers about this chronically overlooked disease.

Later in the program, Moore speaks with Fresno Metro MinistriesTom Mattot about the film "A Place at the Table." The film will be screened at Chukchansi Park on Saturday Sept. 28. Filmmaker Kristi Jacobson also joins the conversation.

Ending the show Moore interviews pianist InonBarnantan. The Israeli-born musician is equally at home in performing works from the romantic era to the modern day. He’s performed at concert halls across the world and his musical travels will take him to Fresno this weekend, as he is the guest artist in the first concert of the Fresno Philharmonic 60th anniversary season, performing Tchaikovsky’s rarely-heard Piano Concerto No. 2. We ask him about his new CD featuring the music of Franz Schubert, his musical background and about his upcoming trip to Fresno.
