'Essential Employees' At Fresno County Federal Prison Say Shutdown Affects Employee Safety

VICE News Tonight on HBO

As of this week, the partial government shutdown means many federal employees are going without a paycheck, some of whom are right here in the San Joaquin Valley.

Reporter Alexandra Jaffe with VICE News Tonight on HBO came out to Fresno to hold a roundtable discussion with workers from the Victorville Federal Prison about their opinions of President Donald Trump and his proposed southern border wall, a sticking point among legislators. They also spoke about how this shutdown is not just affecting their finances, but also their health and safety due to higher levels of stress.

Listen to the interview above to hear Jaffe share more of her reporting.
