New Study Examines The Experiences Of Black Wine Entrepreneurs

Aug 6, 2021

Fresno State marketing professor Monique Bell recently published a first-of-its-kind study of Black entrepreneurs in the wine industry. What she found is that many face unique barriers in their attempt to enter a field dominated by white men, but through community and perseverance are thriving nonetheless. Valley Edition Host Kathleen Schock spoke to Bell about her research. Also joining the conversation was Aaliyah Nitoto, founder and winemaker at the Free Range Flower Winery, and Fern Stroud, the founder of the Black Vines Festival, an annual celebration of Black winemakers in Oakland.
