Also on the program Valley Edition Host Joe Moore remembers the lives of Jerry Tarkanian and Philip Levine.

Ending the show we talk about Allensworth, the African American community in southeastern Tulare County that was established in 1908. Today, it is known as Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park. George Finley, the former principal of Allensworth School, chats with Moore about the town.  Porterville College’s Cultural Historical Awareness Program (C.H.A.P.) will host a presentation on the town Feb. 18 with a special Black History Month presentation of “Allensworth: History and Personal Recollections” from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the PC Theater.
