The San Joaquin River Parkway and Conservation Trust envisions a parkway that extends from the base of Friant Dam to Highway 99.

For years, the San Joaquin River Parkway and Conservation Trust has worked to preserve the river bottom from development between Friant Dam and Highway 99. While the parkway, and its partner agency, the San Joaquin River Conservancy have amassed thousands of acres of land along the river, much of that land isn't regularly open to the public.

That's an issue that the parkway's new executive director Sharon Weaver wants to correct. She joined us this week on Valley Edition to talk about her vision for the parkway, and about the issue of access to parks in Fresno, as well as some summer programs for kids in the area.
