On Valley Edition: Common Core Standards & Fresno; Linda Marsa; Abalone; Paul Betancourt

This week on Valley Edition we focus on education, the environment and agriculture. Host Joe Moore speaks with Fresno Unified Superintendent Michael Hanson about what the Obama administration’s decision to give the district a waiver from the No Child Left Behind Act will mean for district students.

Also in the program, Linda Marsashares about her new book "Fevered: Why a Hotter Planet Will Hurt Our Health -- And How We Can Save Ourselves."  Marsa talks about how global warming is changing Central California. She talk's not only about the problems, but some solutions as well. 

Later in the program, Moore interviews Kerman Farmer Paul Betancourt about his book 10 Reasons: Finding Balance on Environmental Issues.” Betancourt and Moore discuss water issues in the region and more.  That and how UC scientists are working to bring back abalone populations, that’s all on this week's Valley Edition.
