Animal Control and Shelter Services in Fresno: What's Next?
This week on Valley Edition, we talk about the path forward for animal control and shelter services in Fresno, now that Fresno County has severed its ties with the Central California SPCA. Juanita Stevenson files a two part special report on what goes on behind the scenes at the SPCA, on the road with animal control officers and asks what will happen to the current employees if and when the City of Fresno follows the county's lead and walks away from the group, which has provided services to both governments for decades. We also talk with Brenda Hamilton, Executive Director of the Animal Compassion Team, which has opened its own shelter in Fresno.
La Paz to Become National Landmark
President Obama announced on Monday that he will visit Keene next week to dedicate the former home and headquarters of UFW co-founder Cesar Chavez as a national landmark. It will be his first visit to Central California as president. We talk with former Chavez speech writer and press aide, and current Chavez Foundation communications director Marc Grossman about what this honor means for Chavez's legacy.
