Listen to the Fresno Philharmonic’s 2021-22 Masterworks concerts on KVPR. The broadcasts air on the second Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. following the orchestra's concerts and are hosted by KVPR’s David Aus.

Enigma Variations: Tuesday March 22, 2022 8:00 PM

The Fresno Philharmonic presents the world premiere of Fresno composer Kenneth Froelich's Melt: Clarinet Concerto with soloist Jorge Montilla Moreno. Mexican composer Juan Pablo Contreras' exciting Mariachitlan and Elgar's moving Enigma Variations round out this wide ranging program.

Mahler Here and Now: Tuesday May 17, 2022 8:00 PM

Rei Hotoda and the Fresno Philharmonic launch a multi-season survey of the music of Gustav Mahler with a performance of his Symphony No. 1, Titan. Mahler Here and Now will make the case for the continuing relevance of this visionary composer for today. Lili Boulanger's rarely heard impressionistic masterpiece D'un matin de Printemps provides a counterpoint to the evocation of nature in Mahler's symphonies.

Jupiter Symphony: Tuesday September 21, 2021 8:00 PM

The Fresno Philharmonic returns to the concert hall with Fresno favorite Joyce Yang performing Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 1. George Walker's moving Lyric for Strings and Mozart's Jupiter Symphony round out this celebration of a new season.

Serenade for Strings: Tuesday October 19, 2021 – 8:00 PM

Principal Oboe Rong-Huey Liu and Concertmaster Stephanie Sant'Ambrogio perform Bach's delightful Concerto for Oboe and Violin. We also present a recording of the first live performance of California composer John Wineglass' moving reflection on the events of the past year Alone/Together. The concert concludes with Tchaikovsky's lush Serenade for Strings.

Mozart x2: Tuesday Nov 16, 2021 – 8:00 PM

Rei Hotoda and Fabio Bidini team up to perform Mozart's Concerto for Two Pianos in E-flat Major. This concert also pairs two works inspired by folk music traditions: Bartok's Romanian Folk Dances and Gabriela Lena Frank's Elegia Andina.
