Fresh Air, Tiny Desk Radio, The Sam Sanders Show, The Maddy Report and Political Breakdown are coming to KVPR this summer.

KVPR is debuting new weekday and weekend shows as part of its upcoming programming lineup.

Among the additions is longstanding interview show Fresh Air, which will air for the first time on KVPR. On this show famed host and interviewer Terry Gross speaks with thought leaders and celebrities on topics spanning society, culture and news. KVPR also carries Fresh Air Weekend on Saturdays, which will be moving to earlier in the day as a companion to the weekday show.

Other weekend additions include:

  • Tiny Desk Radio, an adaptation of NPR’s viral Tiny Desk Concert video series. Listeners can hear performances, interviews and behind-the-scenes stories from artists and bands across different genres, from Chaka Khan to Bad Bunny.
  • The Sam Sanders Show, a pop culture breakdown that helps listeners make sense of entertainment trends and offers hot takes on the cultural moment.
  • Political Breakdown, a statewide politics show produced out of KQED in San Francisco, will air alongside The Maddy Report — a locally produced public policy show from the nonpartisan Maddy Institute in Fresno.

Plus, listener favorite Science Friday will now encore on the weekend.

“KVPR is always considering ways to meet the needs of listeners who don’t just want the news, but the context and analysis that helps them make sense of the world,” said Elizabeth Arakelian, director of radio at KVPR. “We think these new programs will complement the existing newsmagazines and hourly headlines our listeners value, while also highlighting the cultural conversations and in-depth interviews you can only find on KVPR.”

A complete lineup of new shows and times is below.
