DACA Recipients Discuss Living In Limbo And The Fight For Immigration Reform

On June 18, the U.S. Supreme Court handed down a long-awaited decision that prevents President Trump from ending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. DACA protects people brought to the U.S. as children from deportation, and allows them to work. Hours after the decision was announced, FM89's Kathleen Schock spoke with local DACA recipients, some of whom asked to be identified by their first name only. Joining in the discussion was Cecilia Castro, Education Policy Director for the Dolores Huerta Foundation, Hugo, a licensed vocational nurse who works in Fresno and Karen, a student at Bakersfield College.

Kathleen Schock is the host of Valley Edition. In the show, Kathleen and the Valley Public Radio news team explore issues that matter to the residents of Central California through engaging conversations and in-depth reporting.
