Valley Public Radio's news department has received two more honors for its outstanding work at the 69th annual Golden Mike Awards. The ceremony was held in Los Angeles on Saturday January 19, 2019. Station reporter Kerry Klein received "Best Investigative Reporting - Division B" for her report on a previously undisclosed Immigration and Customs Enforcement "hold room" in downtown Fresno. The station also received honors for "Best Public Affairs Program - Division B" for Valley Edition, specifically the broadcast aired on February 6, 2018.

The Golden Mike Awards are presented each year by the Radio Television News Association of Southern California and honor excellence in broadcast journalism, covering media outlets in California from Fresno south.

Station President and General Manager Joe Moore says the awards are well deserved. "Our reporters are dedicated to bringing listeners across the valley stories they won't find anywhere else. It's exciting to see our work get recognition from beyond our home markets in Bakersfield and Fresno."
