A California Senate Democrat who is under investigation by the FBI says he’s not the only one the Bureau is looking into. But, as Katie Orr reports from Sacramento, other Senators are vehemently denying today they're targets of an investigation.

Senate President pro Tem Darrell Steinberg told reporters he is not under investigation by the FBI after his fellow Democrat, Senator Ron Calderon, made that claim in a court filing earlier this week. Calderon is under investigation for corruption. Steinberg says his reputation is above reproach.

Steinberg: “I’m obviously angry and unhappy about my name, my good name being dragged into something like this. But you know what? I’m a professional and I have a job and I’m going to continue to do my job.”

Sacramento State Communications Professor Barbara O’Connor says it’s not unusual for different names to be brought up during an investigation.

O'Connor: “But it is a common practice when you're the target of a probe, historically, to try to divert attention. And I think that's what you heard from Senator Calderon.

Calderon also claimed Senator Kevin de Leon is under investigation. De Leon has denied it.
