The Pan Valley Institute runs a fellowship program to help young people of color in the San Joaquin Valley build a sense of place and belonging through political engagement. On Saturday evening in Fresno that work comes to fruition with the event “Queer in the Valley,” a celebration of Central Valley residents who identify as Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (QTBIPOC). Valley Edition Host Kathleen Schock spoke with the two fellows behind the event, Michael Piña and Paulina Rodriguez Ruiz.

Kathleen Schock is the host of Valley Edition. In the show, Kathleen and the Valley Public Radio news team explore issues that matter to the residents of Central California through engaging conversations and in-depth reporting.
