USDA Steps In To Relieve Salmon Glut

There’s an overabundance of pink salmon this year.

In response, the USDA is buying up almost $40 million worth of canned salmon. The move helps fisherman keep prices up, and the salmon get donated to food banks.

From the Here & Now Contributing Station, KUOW‘s Carolyn Adolph reports the government decision to purchase the salmon is a relief to both fishermen and distributors.
