Despite California's well-documented housing affordability crisis, the Central Valley had historically been more more affordable than other parts of the state.

That changed with the pandemic, when rents in Bakersfield, Visalia, Fresno and Merced rose 35-39% in just over three years — some of the biggest increases in the state.

As part of KVPR's partnership with 1A and the project Remaking America, we want to hear about your own struggles and successes finding and keeping housing in the Central Valley.

Fill out the brief survey below to help guide our reporting. We may contact you for more information. We will not share your contact information, and we will only publish your responses with your permission.

Remaking America is a two-year reporting project that provides a platform for communication, comprehension, and change. We teamed up with some of the best public radio newsrooms in the country to help us understand the ways our democracy is — and is not — working for all of us. Remaking America is funded in part by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
