Valley Public Radio’s Ezra Romero brings an updated report on the battle over Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin’s plan to outsource Fresno’s residential trash service. We also look to the effects of pollution caused by diesel in Kettleman City in a report by 89.3’s Rebecca Plevin. Jonathan London, an assistant professor of Human and Community Development at University of California, Davis, also chimes in on the discussion.

We ask Leticia Berber, a healthcare specialist with the Public Health Department of Fresno County, about the reality of the flu in the region and where to get low cost flu shots.
And finally, we speak with Oscar Speace and Janice Noga of “Janka: A Play,” the story of holocaust survivor Janka Festinger told through a play set to perform in Visalia on Saturday Jan. 26. Janice Noga, Festinger’s daughter-in-law, brings the memory of Festinger back to life through the performance.
