State Insurance Exchange Gets Ready to Launch Multimillion Dollar Marketing Effort

The new health insurance marketplace known as Covered California is getting ready to launch a $240 million dollar marketing and outreach campaign.

The exchange says about a third of that money will go towards TV, radio and digital media advertising.

Dana Howard of Covered California says enrollment counselors and educators will be spreading the word too.

“You’re going to see billboards, yes indeed. And you’re going to see people on the ground, going really, to the event around the corner from you to talk to people person to person about what Covered California can do for them," says Howard.

TV ads will start in September. The enrollment period begins October 1st.

The marketing and outreach funds for California are part of a one-time federal grant made available under the Affordable Care Act.
