From 1860 onward, more than 350 active mining claims were recorded in the areas around Tioga Pass Road introducing the gold boom of 1880 that lasted until 1884, generating more than $300,000 in gold and silver from the Great Sierra Mines. There are two old forgotten mining towns, Dana City and Bennettsville, which presenter, Tony Krizan, local adventurer, author, and photographer will talk about.
