A Giant Sequoia Grove Near Visalia Just Got A Little Easier To Visit

Courtesty of Bob Wick
Case Mountain giant sequoia grove

A hard to reach grove of giant sequoias in Tulare County is going to get a lot easier to get to later this year. The trees sit on top of a mountain seven miles southeast of Three Rivers that's part of Craig Ranch. The ranch was givento the Bureau of Land Management through a deal between the Visalia Sequoia Riverlands Trust and the San Francisco based Save the Redwoods League. Jessica Neff is with the league.

NEFF: “They were a allowed to go there before, but the access to go the area was so difficult. They now have an opportunity to build an area to now access all of the land.”

Visitors currently can hunt, hike and fish on the property, but the easier point of access won’t be ready until at least the end of the year. Neff says the land will act a buffer zone between visitors and residents who live nearby. She hopes the access point opens the door for schools to bring students to the forest.
