CSUB teaching residency program aims to support Black student success

The California Department of Education released a report earlier this year that found that Black male students are less likely to drop out and more likely to attend a university if they have Black teachers. Research like that led CSU Bakersfield to establish the Black Educator Teacher Residency Program to increase teacher diversity in public schools. To learn more about it, Valley Edition Host Kathleen Schock spoke with Dr. Bre Evans-Santiago, chair and assistant professor of teacher education at CSU Bakersfield.
