EdSource series on the gig workers of California community colleges

Part-time instructors make up roughly two-thirds of the academic workforce at community colleges in California. But many work semester-by-semester with little stability and few or no benefits. EdSource investigative reporter Thomas Peele documented the struggles they face and how it impacts students in a three-part series titled, “Gig by Gig at California’s Community Colleges.” Valley Edition host Kathleen Schock spoke with him about the investigation.
