Pressure on the Fresno Unified School District's superintendent continues to mount. Valley Public Radio's Jeffrey Hess reports the Fresno Teacher's Association is calling for three top district employees to be put on leave pending a federal investigation.

The FTA says the investigation into the district's use of no-bid contracts has overshadowed administrators ability to run the district.

Union leader Tish Rice says now that the district is considering hiring more lawyers to handle the case, it is time for Superintendent Michael Hanson and two other top officials to be placed on leave until the investigation is complete.

Rice: "The Fresno Teachers association wants the focus of this district and the resources of this district focused on the students of this district."

The union says it is concerned that the district is shredding documents, but is unsure if the shredding is connected to the investigation or a part of normal business.

A district spokesman denies those charges, saying any shredding is routine and not related to the investigation and that the Superintendent remains focused on student education.
