The federal government recently rolled out the new FAFSA form, which college applicants fill out for financial aid. Despite some initial hiccups, the changes can benefit San Joaquin Valley students.

California students have encountered headaches dealing with the Middle Class Scholarship process. Some of the problems include students not getting their disbursement for months, or the scholarship decreasing before – or after – they are awarded.

Roughly 360,000 UC and Cal State students may soon receive about $1,000 to $3,000 to fund their educations this fall as part of California’s effort to make college debt-free. Another form of aid to help more community college students has a less clear path.
