Thursday at 8:00 PM beginning in March

This unique program presents performances by talented young student musicians and performers from our six county broadcast area. Valley Public Radio's David Aus hosts the program, which returns in 2021 on Thursday nights at 8:00 p.m.beginning March 18, 2021.

Young Artists Spotlight: Lindsay Guitars 2013

This week on Young Artists Spotlight, we welcome 19 young guitarist from Lindsay High School to the Bonner Performing Arts Studio. Director Nancy Wills brings her students to FM89 every year for this broadcast, which is always a treat for all those involved.

This week on Valley Public Radio's Young Artists Spotlight, we hear live performances from three talented musicians from Bakersfield. Sisters Kara McCoy, violin and Anna McCoy, cello are joined by pianist Brian Liu, who also performs several selections for solo piano.

This week on Young Artists Spotlight, we feature performances by members of the Youth Orchestras of Fresno and from students at Fresno State. YOOF soloists include  Andrea Bogle, viola; Emilea Okayasu, violin; and Benjamin Pegram, violin. Fresno State soloists include Esther Verrinder, violin and Aimee Dockum, cello.

This week on FM89's Young Artists Spotlight, we feature two more talented young musicians from Kern County: clarinetist Michael Ko and violinist LeCheng Tong. The two joined pianist Patrick Bender and FM89 host George Mason for this week's broadcast.

On this edition of Valley Public Radio's Young Artists Spotlight, we feature performances from the Fresno Pacific University String Quartet, (Allison Ens, Valerie DeFehr, Blong Vang and Maxton Viera) and three Fresno Pacific vocalists, Michael Villarreal, Angelica Evangelista, and ​Chianti Wilson.

On this edition of FM89's Young Artists Spotlight we feature performances by young composers with ties to Fresno Pacific University, Joseph del Giorgio and Luffy Bailey. Both del Giorgio and Bailey attended Fresno Pacific as undergraduates. Bailey is now working on a masters degree at Fresno State, and del Giorgio is doing the same at Cal State Fullerton. Joining del Giorgio for his performance on Young Artists Spotlight is fellow Cal State Fullerton vocalist, soprano Joslyn Sarshad.

On this edition of Young Artists Spotlight, the Bakersfield High School Chamber Singers visited the Bonner Performing Arts Studio for a live in-studio performance. Listen to this talented group of south valley students showcase their love of music in this special broadcast. The choir is directed by Christopher Borges. 

Young Artists Spotlight: Hannah & Meghan Tran

Bakersfield sisters Hannah Tran (14 years old)  and Meghan (12 years old) brought their Chinese zither artistry to the Bonner Performing Arts Studio on Wednesday February 13 for a live broadcast of FM89's Young Artists Spotlight. Hear about this traditional Chinese instrument and enjoy the sounds of the Tran sisters on this broadcast from our 2013 Y.A.S. season.

Young Artists Spotlight: Violinist Samuel Lang

Bakersfield violinist Samuel Lang kicked off the 2013 season of Valley Public Radio's program Young Artists Spotlight with a moving performance of The Butterfly Lovers' Violin Concerto by Chinese composers Chen Gang and He Zhanhao.
