Valley Edition: March 1 - Voting; H. Spees; David Gorn Talks Autism; Bees; Rogue Festival

Valley Public Radio

On today's show, three men want to be Fresno's next mayor. We kickoff our look at the race to lead California's fifth largest city, with the one political outsider in  the race - pastor and community leader activist H. Spees. Does his vision for Fresno's future match yours?

We also learn from California Healthline Reporter David Gorn about a change starting this month to a state program that provides care to autistic children that has some parents upset and what it means for the Valley. FM89s's Ezra David Romero reports on an almond variety that could harm the bee industry.  Plus the Rogue Festival begins its wacky run. Rogue producer Jonathon Hogan joins the conversation.

Joe Moore is the President and General Manager of KVPR / Valley Public Radio. He has led the station through major programming changes, the launch of KVPR Classical and the COVID-19 pandemic. Under his leadership the station was named California Non-Profit of the Year by Senator Melissa Hurtado (2019), and won a National Edward R. Murrow Award for investigative reporting (2022).
Ezra David Romero is an award-winning radio reporter and producer. His stories have run on Morning Edition, Morning Edition Saturday, Morning Edition Sunday, All Things Considered, Here & Now, The Salt, Latino USA, KQED, KALW, Harvest Public Radio, etc.
