StoryCorps Legacy Partners With Fresno's Hinds Hospice

Hinds Hospice

Regular listeners to NPR are familiar with the concept of the segment StoryCorps. The organization records thousands of conversations between family members and loved ones each year. Many of the best ones are broadcast nationally on Morning Edition. Now through the organization’s StoryCorps Legacy initiative, the organization is branching out working with hospice organizations all across the country, including here in the valley, to bring more of these stories to life. They include Fresno-based Hinds Hospice, which has been a part of the StoryCorps Legacy project since 2012. On Valley Edition we heard two of the local stories recorded at Hinds Hospice, and talked with Perri Chinalai, Associate Director of Story Corps Legacy and Lauren Nickerson, Fund Development Coordinator at Hinds Hospice.

Joe Moore is the President and General Manager of KVPR / Valley Public Radio. He has led the station through major programming changes, the launch of KVPR Classical and the COVID-19 pandemic. Under his leadership the station was named California Non-Profit of the Year by Senator Melissa Hurtado (2019), and won a National Edward R. Murrow Award for investigative reporting (2022).
