Roof Is On, Drywall Going Up For Valley Public Radio's New Home

The last month has been a busy one at Valley Public Radio's new home. Construction crews have been busy on both the outside and the inside of the building as we are less than four months away from our anticipated move-in date. And in the last few days, window frames have started to fill the openings in the building, giving passers-by an even better idea of what the finished product will look like.

While crews working on the outside of the building have been busy installing the roof and pouring concrete for sidewalks and the station's new patio area, work has also been progressing inside.

Over the past few weeks, workers have been running conduit and cables for our electrical systems, and installing ductwork for mechanical HVAC systems. Because we're building audio studios, the reduction of vibration and other external sounds is paramount. That's why the HVAC units on the roof of the building are mounted far away from the studio spaces, and on acoustic isolators, which will provide a quiet environment for broadcast and recording.

Most recently fiberglass insulation has begun to fill wall cavities, as plywood sheathing and drywall quickly follow. Take a look inside at the slideshow above to see just how fast work is progressing on FM89's new home.
