In Memoriam: KVPR Broadcast Engineer Scott Dean

Scott Dean, Valley Public Radio's longtime broadcast engineer has died, at age 73. Dean spent over two decades as the station's chief engineer before retiring in late 2018. In addition to his work at Valley Public Radio, he worked as a contract engineer for a number of other local stations including the Univision radio group.

During his tenure with Valley Public Radio, he supervised major changes to KVPR's broadcast operations, starting in 2006 with the switch to digital technology both at the studio and at the station's transmitter site in Meadow Lakes, CA. Later in 2015 and 2016 he was a key part of the design-build team behind the construction of Valley Public Radio's new state-of-the-art broadcast center in Clovis, where he supervised the buildout of the station's radio technology.
