Classes wrap up this week at Fresno Pacific University, marking the end of an academic year that generated headlines and protests over the university’s rejection of an LGBTQ+ student club called Birds For Pride. But despite the university’s refusal to authorize the group, its members continued to meet off-campus and push for inclusion. Valley Edition host Kathleen Schock spoke with club president Justin St. George about how the year unfolded.

Kathleen Schock is the host of Valley Edition. In the show, Kathleen and the Valley Public Radio news team explore issues that matter to the residents of Central California through engaging conversations and in-depth reporting.
