A VISION FOR THE FUTURE
We believe in the power of public radio to fire the imagination, nourish the spirit, and provide a public forum for the exchange of ideas and the development of creative solutions. Public radio helps us communicate, understand and build lasting connections. As patrons of public radio we are building bridges for the future.
Our commitment to Valley Public Radio is not just for today but for the enrichment of future generations of listeners. That is why we gladly became founding members of the Legacy Society. - Jackie and Ray Doumanian
Each gift to Valley Public Radio helps us expand our services to the local community. Legacy gifts come in a variety of forms and help provide for the continuation of national and local news content, classical music, and cultural arts programming. These gifts, while planned now, help ensure a public radio voice for the future.
Legacy Society - A gift for the present and a gift for the future
Legacy Society Donors contribute an initial gift of $1,000 to the endowment fund of their choice and continue with annual gifts of $250 and above. Half of this gift is committed to an endowment fund and the remaining half to operations. This represents both a gift for the present and the future. Legacy Society members are invited to special station events during the year. Valley Public Radio is grateful for the support of its current Legacy Society members.
Wills and Bequests
Wills and bequests represent the most popular type of planned giving vehicle. A donor may wish to contribute a portion of their estate or designate a specific dollar amount of their estate be given to Valley Public Radio at the time of their passing.
Life Insurance Gifts
Donors may designate the station as a beneficiary of an existing policy or establish a new policy whereby the station is beneficiary.
Gifts of Securities
Gifts of securities are an excellent vehicle when not wanting to touch cash assets. These kinds of gifts offer no tax gain recognition and are valued at the current market value. The station maintains a Charles Schwab account to help facilitate this transaction.
Gifts of Real Estate
Donors may designate residential, commercial or agricultural property to the station at the time of their passing.
Charitable Remainder Trusts
The station is able to receive gifts of charitable remainder trusts including unitrusts and annuity trusts.
The station has endowment funds for the following projects and areas of interest:
- Program Development
- Music Library
- Capital Projects (including the purchase of equipment)
- General Endowment for overhead and station operations
- Entrepreneurial Opportunities to help fund special projects and joint ventures
- The Dr. Lohne Fund for Scholarships, helping to fund student and intern opportunities at the station.
These endowment funds are in current existence and have helped with many projects. The Board of Directors typically elects to invest half of the interest back into the endowment fund to inspire further growth.
Ask about the opportunity to create a named endowment for your family or a loved one. Endowment funds are managed by an investment company appointed by the Board of Directors.
Charitable Gift Annuities
Charitable gift annuities are a combination of a gift and an investment, providing an excellent method to achieve your philanthropic goals while gaining substantial tax benefits. Charitable gift annuities are facilitated through our partnership with the Fresno Regional Foundation.
