This presenation will feature Carol Gigliotti, Professor Emerita of Design and Dynamic Media and Critical and Cultural Studies at the Emily Carr University of Design in COB2-295. Light refreshments will be provided.
April will showcase Baskets and Gourds: Containers of our Culture IX, with over 20 artists, this exhibition showcases hand woven basketry and both decorative and functional gourd art. An opening reception for the show will be held on Friday, April 5, 5:30PM – 7:30PM. An Artist Talk by Jennifer Malone will take place on Saturday, April 6 at 2PM. A gourd art workshop will take place on April 20, 1PM - 5:30PM (registration required). A closing reception will be held on April 26, 5:30PM – 7:30PM.
Beautiful art, music, food, children’s crafts, art sale, etc. beginning with the grand opening receiption on April 5. Free and open to the public.

This event is a guided birding hike along the Stevenson Creek Falls Trail, near North Fork. This trail traverses gorgeous Sierra Nevada foothill habitat all the way to the spectacular Stevenson Creek Falls. Guide Rachel Clark of Central California Birding Tours will be pointing out the many bird species seen and heard along the way. Be advised, this hike is 3.5 miles in and 3.5 miles back out.
The San Joaquin Valley Quilters’ Guild show and sale will feature a variety of handmade items created by members of the guild. A free preview event will be held during ArtHop on April 4, 5 - 8PM at the church. Proceeds from the quilt show go to support the guild’s community service activities.
Enjoy a morning of guided canoeing and Bald Eagle observations at Sycamore Island, perfect for first-time paddlers and novice birders. Before going out on the water, you'll practice paddling skills and be introduced to Bald Eagle behaviors, migration, and habitat along the San Joaquin. Binoculars are recommended.
Seminars on various gardening topics will include growing vegetables in your backyard, vermiculture (worms!), composting, pruning, and solving plant problems. Exhibitors include the Fresno Metropolitan Flood Control District, CA Department of Water Resources, Cal Fire, Sequoia Chapter California Native Plant Society, Clovis Botanical Garden, and Mosquito Abatement District.
The Collaboratorium will start at UC Merced with a full day of workshops taught by Central Valley-based writers, then move downtown for Jennifer Givhan’s reading. All events are free and open to the public.
This is the first annual Fresno Police Chief's Gala. This formal dinner is being held to raise awareness of the needs and accomplishments of the Fresno Police Department. The mission of the Fresno Police Chief's Foundation is to support the FPD in its efforts to provide officers with the tools, training and outreach opportunities necessary to fully meet the needs, challenges and expectations of the Fresno Community.
