Stories in Color, hosted by St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Bakersfield, is a series of conversations featuring the stories and voices of people of color in Bakersfield and Kern County. Trusting the transforming power of narrative, each session is an opportunity to hear and reflect on real stories of what life is and has been like for people of color in the community. The first conversation is Wednesday, October 21, at 6.30pm with Judy Billingsley. Judy writes about herself: “I am Ute Schaab born in Friedberg Germany, adopted and brought to Bakersfield where I became a naturalized citizen now named Judy Fambrough-Billingsley. I am the mother of two married sons and Nana to 4 grandsons. I'm a retired Educator spending 20 years as a classroom teacher and 15 years as a high school Principal. Last year, I published my first book Too Brown To Keep: A Search for Love Forgiveness and Healing, and currently writing my second book on the real-life of an educator.” Meet Judy and listen to her story.
