A downtown Fresno gift store that specializes in handmade and "indie" arts and craft products is set to close.
Store owner Melanie Davis announced that she plans to shut down retail operation on the boutique's Facebook page Tuesday morning. She says the shop will stay open through the end of March:
Thank you Fresno for supporting our storefront for three and a half years! We are moving on to new adventures. For the time being, Twee will be closing up shop at the end of March at the Tuolumne location. We will be moving to a more mobile business, with an online shop, as well as setting up at Farmers Markets. In fact, starting as soon as the first week of April, you will be able to find us at the Kern Street Market every Wednesday. Many of your most favorite products will be available there and other places TBA! On a personal note, all of you know that I have a passion for Fresno, and in particular Downtown Fresno. I am excited to have the opportunity to spend more of my time joining community organizations and fighting the fight... and who knows, maybe once we get Fulton Street back and have a bustling downtown on the horizon, you might just find the doors opening to Twee once again.
Davis opened the store on Wishon Avenue in Fresno's Tower District in 2009. The store moved to the Warnor's Theatre building on Tuolumne Street last spring. For a brief time, Davis also operated a second location at Fresno Brewing Company on the Fulton Mall.
