Fresno poet Brynn Saito will read at Respite by the River next week as part of the summer series at the San Joaquin River Parkway. The event features local writers and musicians.

For the Weekend, we’re bringing you poetry from writer, poet, and Fresno State professor Brynn Saito.

She’ll be reading next Thursday at the San Joaquin River Parkway as part of its summer series, Respite by the River. We know Thursday’s not quite the weekend, but it’s close enough. The free event takes place August 29 at the San Joaquin River Parkway, starting at 6 p.m. Musician Jeff Bowman will be performing, followed by Saito's reading.

Listen to the interview above to hear Brynn Saito talk about drawing on memory and family history in art, and returning to Fresno.
