Workers Start Applying Stucco To KVPR's New Home

On Thursday workers started applying stucco to the exterior of the building. This is a big milestone for the project as it signals that completion is getting much closer. It also is important for another reason - the weather. The recent break in the El Nino-driven rains that have hit the valley gave the building just enough time to dry out for workers to start applying the stucco. Once the job is complete, work can continue on the rest of the exterior finishes, including the installation of the metal panels which will cover portions of the exterior, giving the building a "hi-tech" contemporary appearance.

Work inside is also moving quickly. Drywall has been installed throughout most rooms, and workers with Hi Tech Homes (our new neighbors in the Portal Sierra technology park) are busy installing thousands of feet of CAT-6 networking cable. This will supply data not only for our computers and phone system, but will also provide audio over-IP service that will connect our new radio consoles and allow the station greater operational flexibility in radio production.
