Friends of Madera Animal Shelter will hold its eighth annual “Strut your Mutt” on Saturday, October 2 at Lion’s Town & Country Park. The event starts with a dog-walk around Town & Country Park, after the walk there are demonstrations, contests, vendor booths, raffle, silent auction and music. Register for the walk at 9:30am. Contests for best costume, best trick and longest sit-stay. Registration is $25 per person, children under 12 are free when accompanied by an adult. For more information, visit:

The Kingsburg High School Music Boosters present a Musical Garden Tour on October 2 from 9am-1pm at four gardens in the Fresno area. Includes music by the Kingsburg High School Wind Ensemble. Advance tickets $15, available at Preen Salon in Fresno and many local nurseries. Day of the Tour tickets $18, available at 6376 N. Van Ness Blvd., Fresno.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium's "Fiesta Del Mar" will be held on October 3. The Fiesta is a celebration of Latin American culture and ocean conservation. Visitors will enjoy a day of special activities including bilingual feeding shows, food samples, live dance and musical performances, and a family craft room. Children 12 and under are admitted free all day.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Southern California Chapter is opening enrollment for its next CogniFitness program, which begins October 5 in Fresno. Participants will meet every Tuesday through November 23 from 10am-Noon at San Joaquin Valley Rehabilitation Hospital at 7173 North Sharon Street in Fresno. They will focus on improving the seven main areas of cognition: attention, memory, executive skills, reasoning, communication, math, and creativity. The eight-week course helps to stretch and exercise, refresh, and re-oxygenate the brain, as yoga and aerobic exercise refresh and strengthen the body. Pre-registration is required.
