The Wiggle Waggle Walk and Furry 5K Run, a fundraiser benefiting the Valley Animal Center, will be held on September 11. Walkers can register at the event starting at 7am. The Furry 5K Run begins at 7:30am, and the 2-Mile Walk begins at 8:30am. The Wiggle Waggle Walk will also feature a Vendor Faire, Kid's Carnival, Dynamic Doggie Demonstrations, food, and more.

The Eighth Annual Judy Wiseman Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on September 11 at Eagle Springs Golf Club as part of the San Joaquin College of Law 40th Anniversary Celebration. Funds raised from the tournament will help permanently endow a scholarship fund in the name of Judy Wiseman, a San Joaquin College of Law student who succumbed to cancer in 2002. Pelo will host a public observance on September 11 at 8:30am at the California Memorial to honor and remember those tragically lost on 9/11/01. The ceremony will include the lowering of the California Memorial flag to Half-Staff by a Military Flag Detail; Wreath procession with Motor Escort and placement of wreaths at memorial, 21 gun salute, Combined Command Flyover, National Anthem, and more. After the ceremony, law enforcement vehicles will be available for public display. The California Memorial Museum will be open from 8am-Noon. For more information, call (559)292-1981.

The Scottish Society of Central California presents its annual Kirkin’ o’ the Tartan, a century-old traditional ceremony that honors Scottish heritage on September 12 at 10am at Holy Family Episcopal Church, 1135 E. Alluvial Ave., Fresno. Each clan is called forward to place their tartan on the altar rail for the blessing, which praises the faith and fortitude of the clan fathers, and honors the noble tradition that Scots proudly share. The 23rd Annual Central California Women's Conference will be held on Tuesday, September 14 at the Fresno Convention Center. Includes Continental Breakfast, seminars, Warm-Up Keynote Session, Keynote Luncheon with Marie Osmond, Cool-Down Keynote Session/Reception. The one-day event features more than 27 national, regional and local experts who will address issues that are most important to women.
